Get a variety of designs of a well-sought-after series when you purchase 1/2 oz random year Devil's Brigade silver coins from our online store! This coin celebrates the elite Canadian-American commando unit that operated during World War II. #### **COIN HIGHLIGHTS** *Ships individually in protective packaging *Consisting of 1/2 oz of 9999 Fine Silver *Obverse: Features an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II *Reverse: Features a design celebrating the American-Canadian commando unit that worked together during World War 2 The Devil's Brigade was originally intended to be a parachute unit that would be dropped behind enemy lines to carry out sabotage missions. The unit ended up being used for reconnaissance and raiding missions. They operated from 1942 until December 1944 when they were disbanded. The unit used printed cards that they would leave on the bodies of enemy soldiers, "Das dicke Ende kommt noch!" or "The worst is yet to come!" printed in red ink down the right side as a form of psychological warfare. The reverse of this coin features the shoulder patch worn by the members of the unit, as well a star or eagle for the U.S. participation and a maple leaf to represent Canadian participation. Two arrows below the patch symbolize the warrior spirit. #### **ABOUT THE ROYAL CANADIAN MINT** The Royal Canadian Mint is known as one of the most reputable mints in the world. The Ottawa Branch of the Royal Mint opened in 1908 and was renamed The Royal Canadian Mint in 1931 when control was transferred to the Canadian government.
