
From atop the Centre Block's arched entryway, Castor canadensis extends a uniquely Canadian "welcome" to all who stand at the base of the Peace Tower. This special seat of honour is indicative of the beaver's special significance, for few other species invoke the spirit of our wilderness and embody more than 300 years of history, exploration and industry. The Centre Block's stone-sculptured beaver is the second of four Keepers of Parliament featured in a magnificent series of 10 oz. silver coins
